Strange Day

Strange day today. Went down for the weekly early Thursday morning spectacle of Lindsay giving his insights into "Strategic Issues in HRM" in between ranting about John Howard.

Today, he was jabbering mostly about the Faculty's top management. As usually he's mumbling, so I didn't quite catch what he was saying but apparently he had an issue with the assistant dean. Then less than an hour through the lesson, someone came in and took him away, promising us that the class will be rescheduled. Two of the full-time workers/part-time students had a problem with that cause it's quite a hardship for them to make any other times.

In their shoes, I wouldn't have argued. A waste of breath considering that Lindsay had already gone off.

Didn't know what the problem was but it seem related to the issue with the assistant dean. There was a police car and uni security around so must be pretty serious.

Since I now had a block of unexpectedly free time, walked to the city, to check out Dick Smith, OfficeWorks and Corporate Express for financial calculators. None under AUD50 so I'll keep using the one I borrowed from Yen. Walking back via Salamanca Place, noticed that there was a fire engine and a blackout. Strange. That's where I took my random picture of the day:

Thought the trees without leaves and Mt Wellington in the background makes a nice picture.

Hobart's a fantastically beautiful place; rural Tasmania and the National Parks even more so. I think I am happier here that if I had gone to anywhere on mainland Australia. Of course, I would have had different experiences, studied different units, known different people (hmmm...And maybe found someone to fall in love with??) but I am happy for the chances I had here to walk up mountains, experience bitingly-cold wind, get lost in alpine/semi-alpine/temperate rainforest terrain and drink from mountain steams. I'm not quite prepared to go back living in a big city just yet.

Remembered that it's Ee Wah birthday today and sent her an SMS: "O dear, almost 4got. Happy brithday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to Eeeee Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Happy brithday to you! :-) SMILE!"

Well, at least I made someone smile today.
